Croatian swimmer Sanja Jovanovic has won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin, Turkey, winning the 50-metre back stroke and setting a new Games record of 28:48.
This is Sanja's sixth medal at the Mediterranean Games. She started her winning streak in Tunisia in 2001 with the silver medal for the 100-m back stroke.
Sanja managed to bring down the Mediterranean record set by Italian swimmer Elene Gemo in Pescara in 2009 by 12 seconds.
