Responding to questions from the press in Ludbreg on Sunday about the situation in the HDZ, its president, Tomislav Karamarko, said the strongest opposition party was undergoing consolidation and that it expected a very good result at next year's local elections.

Asked if the dissolution of party branches could be considered consolidation, Karamarko said that it could, adding that the party "is a living organism consisting of people who have different opinions on some issues."

He said there were people who were elected at intra-party elections but were not accepted in their communities.

Asked about possible coalitions, he said the HDZ was open to cooperation with Democratic Christian parties.

Karamarko, who visited Ludbreg for a parliamentary pilgrimage, said he thought of the coming elections and Croatia's situation also "thanks to the poor work of the government."

"They should have been here today so that God could give them some strength, common sense, knowledge and everything they lack at this moment," he said.
