Zeljko Komsic, Bakir Izetbegovic and Nebojsa Radmanovic are leading in the election race for the new four-year in the Bosnia-Herzegovina collective Presidency, according to preliminary results released by the central election commission on Sunday evening, after the votes, gathered from nearly 75 percent of the polling stations, were counted.
Komsic, as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the position of the Croat member of the Bosnian Presidency received the support of 245,000 voters, or more than 58 percent of the vote.
Borjana Kristro of the Croatian Democratic Union party (HDZ BiH) received slightly over 89,000 votes (21 percent) while Martin Raguz of the HDZ 1990 received approximately 48,000 votes (11.5 percent).
The candidate for the position of the Bosniak member of the rotating presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), mustered 34 percent of the vote, while media taycoon Fahrudin Radoncic won 31 percent of the vote.
Although the latest opinion polls suggested Haris Silajdzic wold win the election, he managed to win only 25 percent of the vote.
The outcome of the presidential race is still uncertain between Serb candidates for the collective presidency - Nebojsa Radmanovic of the Party of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) is slightly ahead of Mladen Ivanic, the candidate of the united opposition (the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) and the Serb Democratic Party (SDS)).
Radmanovic won 50 percent, while Ivanic mustered 47 percent of the vote.
According to the central election commission, turnout was between 56 and 60 percent, up five percent in relation to the general election four years ago and the municipal election in 2008.
