The leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Jadranka Kosor, on Thursday called on members of Parliament to support her party's motion to give Science, Education and Sport Minister Zeljko Jovanovic a vote of no confidence.
Presenting the motion, Kosor said the main reason for it was that Jovanovic did not promote the culture of dialogue and respect for differences.
"The minister said very clearly that he considers the parliament a hen-house, which is absolutely unacceptable."
The HDZ also resents Jovanovic's having told senior officials of the Croatian Football Federation to "take a look at themselves in the mirror and spit at what they see."
The biggest opposition party is also dissatisfied that Jovanovic planned 350 million kuna less than what is necessary for salaries in his ministry, for electricity bills at universities and for school programmes to be introduced as an alternative to religion class.
