The the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) presidency unanimously decided on Thursday to expel former party president Jadranka Kosor from the HDZ, spokeswoman for the party Silvana Oruc Ivos told reporters.
The party presidency has thus endorsed the decision of a five-member panel of the HDZ high court of honour which unanimously decided to expel Kosor on 1 March.
Panel chairman Florijan Boras said that in her public statements Kosor had undermined the existence and bodies of this strongest opposition party. Kosor appealed that decision but the party presidency rejected her appeal.
Kosor announced a news conference in parliament for 1600 hours.
