Croatian skier Ivica Kostelic won his first crystal globe in the overall competition and his second crystal globe in slalom, despite finishing 18th in the season’s final race at the Swiss resort of Lenzerheide on Saturday.
Jean-Baptiste Grange, who was competing with Kostelic for the slalom title until the final race, did not finish the first run.
This season, Kostelic won three titles - one in slalom, one in super-combined and the overall competition, which combines five disciplines.
The overall World Cup is considered by many skiers to be more prestigious than an Olympic or world championship gold medal as it is decided over the whole season and various disciplines.
