Anti-gay extremists, who were shouting "Kill the gays", attacked gay activists as they were gathering for the first ever pride event in Montenegro.
The parade was scheduled to take place at noon on Wednesday in the coastal resort of Budva.
Over 100 people opposing today's parade threw rocks, bottles and various other objects at gay activists and supporters and at special police securing the event in the coastal town of Budva on Wednesday. Police intervened to push the attackers away and the event continued as planned.
Police have already arrested several people who egged buses carrying members of the LGBT community and tried to physically attack them.
The Pride Parade, which will be held in front of the walls of Budva's old town, will be secured by more than 400 police, according to official announcements.
Montenegrin government said it supported the pride march and wanted to send a clear message that Montenegro is a society where human rights and diversities are respected.
