The leader of the Croatian Association of Workers' Unions (HURS), Ozren Matijasevic, on Wednesday said Croatia was currently in disarray since Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic put his ego above the interests of Croatian citizens.
"Milanovic is losing ground, the economy shows no sign of progress, and it is difficult for him to admit defeats both in the country and on the foreign policy front," Matijasevic said at a news conference in Zagreb.
The HURS president says that "trying to divert attention from one's own failures and errors to conflicts of opinion and to selective protection of human rights is human but it is not statesman-like".
The unionist warned that the national economy had been contracting for the seventh consecutive quarter.
Matijasevic also highlighted the figures showing that the industrial production had fallen by 4.1% on the year and the number of employees in that sector had gone down by 5,026.
He urged the government to convene a group of experts to address the current situation instead of being dragged into fruitless discussions.
