Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) vice-president Darko Milinovic said on Tuesday that party president Jadranka Kosor should bear some of the responsibility for the "worst election result in the party's history."
"The party president, whom I have supported for the last four years, should bear some of the responsibility. I am not saying that Kosor should resign, but she does have to bear some responsibility," Milinovic said after a session of the HDZ branch in Lika-Senj County which analysed the party's election result, announcing the possibility of running for HDZ president.
He said the party branch in Lika-Senj County was dissatisfied "with the party's (election) result at the national level, because it's the poorest result in the party's history." Milinovic said he would continue to fight for the democratisation of the HDZ and supported a proposal that more candidates run for the post of party president.
"When I decide to submit my candidacy for the party president, I will first inform of it the party president and the public, but now I am only thinking about the party's democratisation," said Milinovic.
He added that the HDZ branch in Lika-Senj County was satisfied with the election result in that county and Constituency No. 9, which he said was the result of the party's four-year work in that area.
