A motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic and his cabinet will be put before the Montenegrin parliament on Tuesday.

The motion has been included in the agenda at the proposal of a majority of opposition parties following the initiative to this effect by the Movement for Changes Party (PZP), led by Nebojsa Medojevic.

According to the PZP, the current government does not any longer enjoy confidence of the people "due to a poor security situation in the country and inefficient state bodies in the struggle against organised crime and corruption".

The government is held responsible for a poor economic situation, falling living standards and for a lack of measures to overcome the economic crisis, the opposition party said in the proposal for the motion.

Members of the ruling coalition criticise the motion as a move taken by the Opposition ahead of the local elections, scheduled for 23 May.
