The 16th edition of the well known Motovun Film Festival opened in this Istrian town on Saturday evening under the logo "Welcome to a bunch of movies!"
The marathon of films will take place over the next five days from 10 am to 4 after midnight.
The film ''Imagine'' by the Polish director Andrzej Jakimowski opened this year's festival.
The opening ceremony was attended by Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic.
Motovun is trying for years to be a small festival showing small films. But the atmosphere that is created around it is anything but small.
This year's festival will feature 90 movies from 29 countries from four continents.
Motovun Film Festival is still giving the Bauer Prize for the best film in the region. The selectors have chosen 12 films from the region, and in the finale came three films - "Pismo caci" debut of the director Damir Čučić, "Halimin put" by the director Arsen Anton Ostojic and "Obrana i zastita"' by the theater director Bobo Jelcic. The jury compound of actors and directors from the region is deciding the winner. The award is presented at the closing of the Motovun Film Festival on July 31st.
