The new law on stimulating investments has brought in quality results in the first eleven months of its implementation and it is estimated that by mid-next year the law will have resulted in about 4,000 new jobs around Croatia, Enterprise Minister Gordan Maras told a press conference on Wednesday.
"In just eleven months of application, that law has achieved results that are identical to those achieved in five years when the old law of the previous government applied," Maras said.
He added that since the law on stimulating investments and improving the investment climate had been enforced in October last year, 152 applications for stimulative measures had been received and these investments amounted to HRK 4.1 billion, which could lead to about 4,000 new jobs.
According to the law, all planned investments of more than EUR 50,000 and at least three employed in small and medium businesses could be eligible for certain subsidies.
In comparison, during the last government and the application of the old law, only 250 requests for investments had been received in five years with a value of HRK 3.9 billion, he said.
"At the moment, as far as conditions are concerned, Croatia is one of the most competitive and most interesting countries for investments in the region", Maras claimed.
