The preliminary result of a referendum in four predominantly Serb municipalities in north Kosovo show that nearly 100 per cent of those who voted do not accept the Kosovo authorities, the media in Belgrade reported on Thursday.
About 75 per cent of eligible voters took part in the two-day referendum and 99.74 per cent said they do not accept "the institutions of the so-called Republic of Kosovo".
The head of the Serbian negotiating team in dialogue with Kosovo, Borislav Stefanovic, said the referendum result would come to nothing, as the referendum was unconstitutional and pointless, and that it would not undermine the dialogue but would make Serbia's position on the international plane more difficult.
On Wednesday, the Kosovo parliament adopted a resolution objecting to the referendum and declaring it unconstitutional and illegal.
Representatives of the international community and the Kosovo authorities objected to the referendum before it began. The authorities in Belgrade said the referendum was harmful for Serbia's state interests.
