Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic on Monday again commented on the scandal involving the unauthorised surveillance of senior intelligence officers and executives of the Agrokor food and retail group, reiterating that there had been no irregularities on the part of the police.
"That's all I can say. There is the parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs and National Security which has the right to authorise surveillance. Let's wait for the outcome of the investigation and I'm confident that it will confirm what I have been saying," Ostojic told reporters in the northern Adriatic town of Valbandon where he opened an international police training course.
National chief of police Vlado Dominic, who also attended the opening ceremony, said that the Police Act allows the police to request printouts of telephone calls. He added that 24 police officers, led by the chief of the Crime Investigation Department, currently had the authority to make such requests in criminal investigations.
When asked to whom such reports were submitted, Dominic said: "It's a police responsibility."
