Croatia has one enemy in the European Council and that country wants the joint admission of Croatia and Serbia in the European, the chairwoman of the European Parliament's Committee on Culture and Education, Doris Pack, said in an interview with the Vjesnik daily, which hit the newsstands on Monday.
I believe that there is one country in the European Council which is very hostile towards Croatia and its EU admission and it wants to put Croatia closer to the admission to the bloc together with Serbia, which is impossible because Serbia hasn’t even started its membership negotiations, Pack told Vjesnik decline to say which country she was referring to.
Commenting on the conference of the European People's Party Group Bureau entitled "Croatia: a new model for enlargement", held in Zagreb on March 3 and 4, Pack said Croatian Prime Mister Jadranka Kosor had a very difficult job because on one hand she was fighting corruption within her own ranks and in the country and on he other she was preparing for EU membership. This is why she deserves full support and we in the EPP wanted to underlined that so we held the conference in Zagreb, Pack said.
Asked about protests rallies that are being held throughout Croatia and about the incident in which the European Union was set on fire, Pack said this was done by people who do not know what they want.
The EU flag should have never been set on fire. Burning the flag which represents freedom and peace is shameful. This was done by people who don’t know what they want. They spend too much time on Facebook and are only looking for incidents, Pack told Vjesnik.
