Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor confirmed to the press on Thursday that he had been informed that former Croatian PM Ivo Sanader had crossed the Croatian-Slovenian border into Slovenia today, but would not reveal more.

"I was informed by the interior minister and I authorised her to inform the public about it if there was interest in it and if she deemed it necessary," Pahor said in response to questions from the press if it was true that Sanader crossed the border around 11 am.

Pahor would not say if Sanader was in Slovenia.

The Slovenian news agency STA said the Slovenian police confirmed that Sanader had entered Slovenia, but could not say whether he left it or was still on its territory.

In the afternoon, Slovenian Radio cited unofficial information to the effect that Sanader was booked on a 15.50 hours flight to London from Ljubljana's Brnik airport.

This unofficial information could not be confirmed.

Slovenian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Vesna Drole confirmed that Sanader entered Slovenia at the Bregana border crossing around 11 am, but that Slovenian authorities had no legal grounds for any action.

She said Sanader was recognised by a Slovenian police officer.

Earlier this morning, the Croatian parliament received a request from the State Attorney's Office to strip Sanader of his parliamentary immunity.

The parliamentary Credentials and Privileges Commission unanimously approved the request to arrest Sanader and put him in investigative prison on the suspicion that he had committed crimes of conspiracy to commit crime and abuse of office.
