The Croatian parliament on Tuesday adopted the 2011 budget, but without the votes of the strongest opposition parties, whose deputies walked out before the vote.
Next year's budget envisages revenues in the amount of HRK 107.4 billion and expenditures totalling HRK 122.3 billion, with a deficit of HRK 14.9 billion, or 4.3 per cent of GDP.
The budget is based on a GDP growth projection of 1.5 per cent.
Eighty-three MPs of the ruling majority were in favour and six from the opposition voted against - Boro Grubisic, Ivan Drmic and Dinko Buric of the HDSSB, Daniel Srb of the HSP (Party of Rights), Dragutin Lesar of the Croatian Labour Party, and Ivica Pancic of the Croatian Social Democrats.
MPs of the opposition SDP (Social Democratic Party), HNS (People's Party), IDS (Istrian Democratic Party) and HSU (Pensioners Party) walked out of the parliament hall before the vote, saying they did not want to be responsible for a poor budget that pushed Croatia deeper into crisis.
Before the vote, the parliamentary majority rejected the amendments moved by independent MP Zoran Vinkovic and did not vote on amendments moved by Srb.
