Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Monday objected to media speculations about government ministers that might be subject to personnel changes that she announced speaking to Croatian reporters in New York on Sunday. Media speculate primarily on finance minister Ivan Suker, sea minister Bozidar Kalmeta, construction minister Marina Dropulic Matulovic and defense minister Branko Vukelic.

Speculations bring unrest among the government members who must do a responsible and difficult job, she told press after addressing the UN General Assembly.

Kosor said she received many congratulations after the address, notably from representatives of countries in the region.

On Sunday, Kosor announced changes in the government by the end of the year, without naming any ministers or departments.

On Monday, she confirmed that a personnel revamp was ahead for the government, linking it to recently proposed projects that are expected to encourage a new investment cycle in Croatia.

"There will be new people that can help and give new impetus in certain areas. Among other measures, we proposed some important investment projects. I'm looking for some new people who can help to implement them."

Kosor said "the economy minister is doing an excellent job," adding an investment had been proposed in a "huge project in which we need a lot more people who can invest additional efforts".

Commenting on responses to her statement that the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) slates at the next parliamentary elections would include twice as many young people, she said she had already announced that at the 20th anniversary of the HDZ's Youth organisation.
