Prime Minister and president of the ruling HDZ party Jadranka Kosor said on Wednesday she did not understand why President Ivo Josipovic was nervous, claiming the parliamentary election would be held on time, within the deadline, and reiterating that she would set the election day in the coming days.
She was asked by the press to comment on Josipovic's statement earlier today that elections were called by the president of the republic and that the concrete election date was in his hands.
Kosor said she could not understand why Josipovic was nervous. "I really don't, because he has been sending me messages I don't understand for several days now, and we respond for the stability of the state together."
Kosor said she and the government had kept all their promises. "I can talk only based on facts. I as prime minister and the government have kept all our promises. I promised when many wanted to topple the government and to stop the course of the (EU accession) negotiations. I said we could complete the negotiations by the end of June and I kept that promise together with my colleagues in the government and the ruling coalition."
She reiterated the completion of the EU entry talks was a huge success for Croatia and that she would like all state officials to be as happy about it as she was.
Kosor reiterated she announced that she would set the election date after the completion of the EU entry talks and that she would do so in the coming days.
"I see no reason for panic. I see no reason for nervousness and I see no reason for constantly talking through the media. That's really not worthy of the job we do," she said.
She also added that the HDZ would win the election.
