The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, said on Saturday that he would launch a procedure required by the Church to investigate the possibility of beatifying Cardinal Franjo Kuharic.
Bozanic made the statement during a religious service in the Zagreb cathedral held on the 10th anniversary of Kuharic's death.
Kuharic was born in Gornji Pribic in 1919 and died in Zagreb in 2002. He was an honorary member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was ordained a bishop in 1964 and was named the Archbishop of Zagreb in 1970. In 1983, Pope John Paul II named him a cardinal.
