Attorney Cedo Prodanovic said on Friday evening that the defence team was relatively satisfied with a Hungarian court' 22-month suspended sentence with three years' probation for Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Radimir Cacic.
Cacic was found guilty on Friday of causing a car crash with two fatalities in Hungary in 2010.
"We were hoping for an acquittal. We were also afraid of some negative surprises but this is a verdict with which we can be relatively satisfied at this moment," Prodanovic told Croatian Television.
Prodanovic said that at the trial all the facts Cacic had stated in his defence proved to be true.
He reiterated that both Cacic's Hungarian lawyer and the prosecution would appeal.
