Croatia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusic said on Monday that her meeting with Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in Zagreb earier in the day was "a high-quality meeting" which had revolved around a series of topics.

The Croatian minister told the national broadcaster (HTV) on late Monday evening that the Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister had arrived in Zagreb at her invitation and he had also been received by Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and other top officials including Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and cabinet ministers.

This proves that we deem that it is important to have "high-quality working" relations with Serbia, Pusic said.

Asked whether Vucic's talks with the officials in Zagreb were preparations for the arrival of Serbia's President Tomislav Nikolic in Croatia on 30 June for celebrations marking Croatia's entry into the European Union, Pusic said that the meetings earlier in the day were important working meetings on the development of the relations between Croatia and Serbia.

"The meeting of the two presidents (Josipovic and Nikolic) will probably happen then (30 June), or perhaps earlier at some regional gathering. But, definitely, on 30 June, given that Serbia's President and Prime Minister have been invited (to the ceremony)," Pusic said.
