Business people from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro gathered in the Serbian town of Arandjelovac on Thursday for a Southeast European business summit.
During the two-day event, business leaders from the region will put forward concrete proposals as to how to increase the competitiveness of national economies as well as the overall competition potential of Southeast Europe.
The conference is also expected to be attended by the Presidents of Serbia and Slovenia, Boris Tadic and Danilo Tuerk, as well as by officials of the European Commission, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and leading European banks operating in Southeast Europe.
Croatia will be represented at the meeting by Atlantic Grupa, Tehnika, Varteks, Podravka, Ina, Nexe Grupa, the Sunce concern, Privredna Banka Zagreb, TDR, Zagrebacka Banka, Agrokor, Djuro Djakovic Holding, IN2, Munja and HR Pro.
The summit is expected to launch and institutionalise dialogue among leading business people in Southeast Europe on the economic situation in the region and the accomplishment of objectives to be stated in the closing documents.
Also on the agenda is a discussion on ways to improve the business climate and competitiveness in Southeast Europe, on the creation of conditions for dialogue with top political officials with the aim of establishing a single, competitive and prosperous market, and on the creation of better living conditions for citizens.
The event will also discuss ways to remove barriers to greater market competitiveness in the current conditions of global financial crisis and uneven dynamic of EU accession, and identify and foresee new challenges to be encountered in efforts to overcome the crisis.
The organisers of the summit are the Serbian Managers Association, the Croatian Employers Association, and the Slovenian Managers Association.
