Croatian National Bank (HNB) Governor Zeljko Rohatinski has said that the HNB's position on the arrival of Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLB) on the Croatian market remains the same and that the bank will not be allowed to operate in Croatia until Croatian citizens who had savings in the now defunct Ljubljanska Banka are given back their money.
"The HNB's position of the last seven years remains, of course, unchanged. There is no reason whatsoever to change it," Rohatinski told reporters before meeting Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor at government headquarters on Thursday.
Rohatinski was meeting Kosor ahead of her talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor, scheduled for July 31. One of the topics to be discussed at the talks is the issue of Ljubljanska Banka's debt to its Croatian depositors.
