About a hundred members of the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP), including Cabinet ministers and members of Parliament, who gathered in the northern Adriatic resort of Porec on Friday, continued their meeting on Saturday with a discussion on measures aimed at speeding up reforms in the country and improving coordination between the government and the SDP group in Parliament.

"We're discussing better coordination between the government and our parliamentary group because two months after the formation of the new government we have decided to talk about our communication and what needs to be improved that has not been functioning in our relations in the last two months," the SDP Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Welfare and Youth, Milanka Opacic, told reporters.

She said that communication within the party was extremely important in order to better present projects and bills adopted by the government.

When asked what had not been functioning in the last two months, Opacic said they needed to work on their communication. "Communication with the members of Parliament is important to us because it is they who decide on and who discuss proposed projects and bills in Parliament," she said.

"The government has done a lot in the last two months. It has passed the budget before the deadline and adopted several bills that are primarily aimed at helping the national economy. I think we have passed many crucial bills, and most of the attention has been given to the ministries of the economy and finance which needed to take decisive steps to move the economy forward," Opacic said.

"We are aware that we inherited a difficult situation in the economy and public companies. We have to change that, and that's why we need top managers," Opacic said, adding that the present government wanted to establish "a fair and transparent policy towards citizens."
