The health of former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader is such that it will not be necessary to detain him in hospital for further treatment, and stent implantation will not be necessary either, the head of the Clinic for Heart and Coronary Diseases at the KBC hospital in Zagreb, Davor Milicic, said on Friday.
"Today's x-ray of the coronary arteries showed certain changes in the arteries, but they are not such as would require any procedure," Milicic told press, adding that Sanader could be sent back to the prison hospital this weekend.
"The patient is currently on medication and it seems that that will be enough and that he will not need hospital treatment. Depending on the results of all examinations, he might be transferred to the prison hospital tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. He will be subjected to an additional examination there and if everything is all right, the patient might be returned to prison," Milicic said.
Sanader was transferred to the KBC hospital immediately after a hearing before the Zagreb County Court where a judge accepted the opinion of a medical expert that the former prime minister was currently not fit for trial on account of his health.
