A member of parliament and leader of the (Bosniak) Party of Democratic Action (SDA) of Croatia, Semso Tankovic, said in Pula on Monday that his party would soon offer its vision of cooperation to the Alliance for Change, a coalition formed last Tuesday by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Croatian People's Party (HNS), the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) and the Croatian Pensioners' Party (HSU) for the next parliamentary election.
Tankovic said that his party had still not talked with representatives of the coalition, but recalled the previous parliamentary elections when the SDA and the SDP signed an agreement to run together in the elections. In the next parliamentary elections, the SDA wants more, he said.
"The SDA wants to be a part of the coalition because we are backed by 45,000 voters. They will all support this coalition if we manage to find common ground," Tankovic said.
"Being a party with three seats in the parliament would be an ideal scenario, but there is also the negative option - we could lose the single seat that we have now," Tankovic said.
He added that the next population census, to be held in March, would be very important and that the party would try to convince Bosniaks to freely declare their ethnicity.
"As Bosniaks, we know that Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are one and the same geopolitical area and it is our goal to connect the two countries in terms of their interests," he said.
