The Social Democratic Party (SDP) will be reported to the State Prosecutor's Office and the parliamentary Committee on the Constitution, Standing Orders and Political System because it submitted its financial report two days late, the State Audit Office said on Monday.
Spokeswoman for the State Audit Office Biserka Coh Mikulenc told the media that under the law on the financing of political activities and election campaigns, the Audit Office must notify the State Prosecutor's Office and the parliamentary committee about all cases of violations of the law, namely about failure to submit annual reports on time.
The SDP said on Sunday that its financial report was two days late because the person responsible for its publication had been unexpectedly hospitalised and subjected to surgery. The party said it notified the State Election Commission and the State Audit Office of these circumstances.
Spokeswoman Coh Mikulenc said the SDP had not notified the Audit Office or asked for an extension of deadline, adding that even if it had, it would have no effects, as the deadline must be respected.
