Croatian Deputy Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks said on Thursday the ruling majority would have a "substantial number of hands" in parliament on Friday to adopt laws, adding that the meeting held at government headquarters this afternoon focused on "party issues".

After today's session of the government, the leadership of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) held a meeting which lasted nearly two hours. Seks told reporters outside the government building the meeting did not focus on the further work of the parliament, after representatives of the four parties making up the centre-left opposition coalition decided to boycott the parliament.

Asked if the ruling coalition feared that there would not be enough hands in parliament tomorrow, Seks said "No, I believe we will have a substantial number of hands."

This was a party meeting, talks between HDZ president Jadranka Kosor and coordinators of electoral constituencies, Seks said.

The meeting with Kosor was also attended by Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic, Deputy Speaker Ivan Jarnjak, Ministers Tomislav Karamarko, Martina Dalic, Djuro Popijac, Bozidar Kalmeta, Branko Bacic and Davor Bozinovic, and HDZ parliamentary deputies Ivan Suker and Andrija Hebrang.
