Serbian President Boris Tadic will not attend an upcoming summit in Warsaw between central European leaders and U.S. President Barack Obama, to protest the inclusion of Kosovo, the media in Belgrade reported on Tuesday.
The media cited President Tadic's office as saying that Tadic will not attend the meeting because Kosovo's President Atifete Jahjaga will attend.
Kosovo is a former Serbian province whose 2008 declaration of independence Belgrade has refused to recognise. Kosovo's independence has so far been recognised by 75 countries, including the United States and 22 of the 27 EU members.
The Serbian media also cited Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski as saying that Poland recognised Kosovo's independence and therefore would have no reason to exclude its leader.
Leaders from across the region will gather in Warsaw on Friday for the two-day meeting. Obama is joining them at a Friday dinner toward the end of a four-country European tour.
