Serbian football team coach Radomir Antic has extended his contract with the country's Football Association until 2012, Belgrade media reported. The contract will enable the 61-year-old to lead Serbia in the qualifications for the European Championship in 2012, taking place in Poland and Ukraine.

"This is a sign of great trust and I hope that myself and the players I lead will live up to it," Antic said after signing the contract.

Antic was also awarded with the "Golden ball" for the best coach in Serbia, after Serbia qualified for the World Cup in South Africa next year.

They will be facing Germany, Australia and Ghana at the finals.

Antic took over coaching Serbia's national team in August 2008. During the 1970s and 1980s he played in Serbia, England, Turkey and Spain.

He has the distinction of having coached the three big clubs in Spain - Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
