European Parliament Vice President Miguel Angel Martinez, who on Monday attended a ceremony to mark the completion of the reconstruction of the facade of the Workers Hall in Vukovar, eastern Croatia told reporters that the problems Vukovar is experiencing with the introduction of dual alphabet signs is not unknown in other European countries.

It's a complicated problem that isn't only present in Vukovar but in all regions where various scripts and dialects exist. That problem exists in my Spain and in Brussels too, Martinez said.

He said that he hoped Vukovar citizens would find a joint solution and realise that reconciliation is the only solution that leads toward a united Europe.

Today's ceremony was also attended by President Ivo Josipovic, Parliament Speaker Josip Leko and the PM's delegate, Veterans' Minister Predrag Matic, who called on international community and EU representatives to have understanding for everything that happened in the recent past in Vukovar which has left deep wounds in the souls of its residents.
