The Spanish presidency of the European Union on Sunday afternoon reported that an inter-governmental conference on Croatia's accession to the Union would be held on Monday, and thus changed its previous information it released earlier in the day that the conference in Brussels was canceled due to air travel problems caused by the cloud of volcanic ash in Europe.

I can confirm that the accession conference will be held (on Monday). We will soon forward the correction of the previous information, the Spanish EU presidency's spokeswoman Cristina Gallach. told Hina on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday morning, the Spanish EU chairmanship sent text messages to reporters accredited in Brussels on the cancellation of the conference between the EU and Croatia on the latter's EU accession bid as well as of some other events in Brussels and Luxembourg because of flight cancellations caused by the spread of volcanic ash.

Later it reported that the EU-Croatia conference at the ambassadorial level would be held and that there was no reason to put it off as all ambassadors were already in Brussels

During the Brussels conference Croatia is expected to close the policy chapter on Free Movement of Goods, which would bring the number of closed chapters within its EU accession talks to 18.
