Serbian President Boris Tadic's office said on Saturday that during his visit to the Croatian town of Vukovar on Thursday, Tadic was stating Serbia's position and not his own, according to the Tanjug news agency.
Tadic's visit "was not private, but a working visit" and everything he said in Vukovar, Ovcara and Paulin Dvor is the official position of Serbia, said the press release.
Tanjug asked Tadic's office to comment on claims by "a section of the Croatian public" and the Croatian Party of Rights that Tadic visited Croatia unofficially and that his messages and apologies for war crimes were actually his personal position.
Tadic said during the visit that personal gestures are not enough in the reconciliation process, Tanjug said, adding that part of the Croatian public, unlike Zagreb, was trying to minimise the importance of Tadic visit to Ovcara and downplay his apology by claiming that it was Tadic's personal position.
