Serbian President Boris Tadic said in Vukovar on Thursday that his country would participate in the building of the easternmost Croatian town.
Tadic told press that with a view to improving better inter-state, inter-ethnic and regional cooperation, "Serbia will certainly take part in the building of Vukovar."
He added it had still not been established if Serbia would take part in it on municipal or state level.
"This isn't just a token gesture, but a concrete one, and I consider it a political act that will help us understand each other better," said Tadic.
He thanked Vukovar Mayor Zeljko Sabo for understanding the complexity of political and inter-ethnic relations and the initiative to protect citizens and create prospects for the coexistence of all of Vukovar's residents, regardless of ethnicity or faith.
