Serbian President Boris Tadic said in Cetinje, Montenegro, on Thursday he supported Montenegro's accession to NATO, but added that Serbia would not join the alliance.

Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic told press after meeting Tadic that he had conveyed to him "Montenegro's determination to swiftly integrate with NATO" and Podgorica's expectation that Belgrade understand this important "integration need of Montenegro's."

Tadic said Belgrade "fully and genuinely supports Montenegro's intention to become a NATO member," but added Serbia would remain neutral.

The two presidents were agreed that the future of the two countries is in the European Union.

Tadic said his talks with Vujanovic and Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic discussed demarcation issues in the region, adding there remained some outstanding border issues between Serbia and Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Macedonia.

Tadic said Serbia "isn't showing understanding" for Montenegro's decision to recognise Kosovo, adding this decision had a practical consequence, too, namely the border demarcation issue.

Vujanovic called on Pristina and Belgrade to discuss problems without exclusion, saying it was in the interest of the entire region.

Tadic announced a historic visit by a Serbian president to Albania, but said Serbia would never recognise Kosovo.
