The most senior Croatian state delegations, led by the president of the state, the parliament speaker and the prime minister, laid wreaths at Zagreb's central Mirogoj cemetery on Saturday on the occasion of Statehood Day.
President Ivo Josipovic and his associates laid wreaths at the Wall of Pain monument, the central cross in the cemetery section dedicated to Homeland War veterans, at the grave of the first Croatian president Franjo Tudjman, at the Tomb of World War II Heroes, and at the grave of Ivica Racan, Croatia's prime minister in the 2000-2003 period.
Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic and his associates laid wreaths at the Wall of Pain monument, at the central cross in the cemetery section dedicated to Homeland War veterans, and at Tudjman's grave.
Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and her associates laid wreaths also at the Wall of Pain monument, at the central cross in the cemetery section dedicated to Homeland War veterans, and at Tudjman's grave, as did a delegation led by Zagreb mayor Milan Bandic.
A delegation of the Croatian Democratic Union laid wreaths and lit candles at the Homeland Altar on Mt. Medvednica overlooking Zagreb, at the central cross in the section of the Mirogoj cemetery dedicated to Homeland War veterans, and at Tudjman's grave.
Many associations and citizens, too, laid wreaths in tribute to those who gave their lives for the Homeland.
