The Serbian border police barred two buses carrying Croatian handball fans from entering Serbia at the Bajakovo border crossing, eastern Croatia, Vukovar County police spokesman Luka Baruncic said on Friday.

The buses with Bosnia and Herzegovina's licence plates were transporting 106 Croatian fans who were on their way to Belgrade where the Serbian and Croatian national teams will play a semi-final match within the European handball championship on Friday evening.

The buses tried to enter Serbia at the Serbian border crossings of Batrovac beside Bajakovo around 11hrs Friday, but they were sent back because the fans did not have tickets for this evening's match.

According to Baruncic, three more buses with fans from Zagreb and Osijek are expected to pass the Bajakovo border crossing on their way to Belgrade later in the day.
