The independent trade union representing employees in high schools and the Croatian Teachers Union said on Friday that the government's decision to abolish the supplements of 3,5,7 and 9 percent to teachers' monthly wages as of 1 August was an act of retaliation because unions would not agree to blackmails, calling on Education Minister Zeljko Jovanovic to resign.

They said the government's decision was detrimental to the country's future.
