The head of the Delegation of the European Union to Croatia, Ambassador Paul Vandoren, said during his visit to the northwestern county of Krapina-Zagorje on Monday that the European Union was an excellent opportunity for Croatia which will be able to take part in the decision-making and policy-creating processes.
Vandoren held talks with County Prefect Sinisa Hajdas Doncic and his associates. He said that the EU is a market of 500 million people at which Croatian craftsmen and entrepreneurs will be able to place their products and services.
He stressed that once the country joins the bloc, many EU funds will become available to Zagreb for further development on the economic and social fronts.
Vandoren declined to comment on the content of the European Commission's progress report on Croatia which is expected to be released on Tuesday.
