Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced on Tuesday the government reshuffle would be completed by July 27, saying that it was time Serbia came to grips with the most important and biggest problems: the economy and job creation.
Vucic told a press conference that the government reshuffle would be thorough and comprehensive and that it would require the responsible behaviour of all coalition partners in the government.
The present coalition government was formed in late July 2012, comprising Vucic's Progressive Party, the Socialist Party of Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, and the United Regions, headed by Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic.
Last month Vucic said that the situation in the country was worse than portrayed by the opposition because "the bills from the previous decades must now be paid." He said that the domestic economy "is not standing on its feet but is stumbling" and that talks on the economy and anti-crisis measures were his "nightmare".
Late in May, Fiscal Council Chairman Pavle Petrovic said that by the end of this year or at the beginning of the next Serbia would be facing serious financial problems unless it put the budget deficit in check. Similar warnings have also been made by International Monetary Fund experts.
