6th Split Mediterranean Film Festival begins

The 6th Split Mediterranean Film Festival began in the southern Adriatic seaport on Saturday evening with the screening of Spanish director Pablo Berger's "Snow White".

The festival was opened by Mayor Ivo Baldasar. It will feature 60 films, several workshops and two festivals - Kratkofil Plus from Banja Luka and Cinema City from Novi Sad.

Twenty-five films will compete for awards - from Croatia, Turkey, Spain, France, Lebanon, Great Britain, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Bulgaria, Germany, Romania, Morocco, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Slovenia, Palestine, Egypt and Denmark.

The festival closes next Saturday.
