At its closed session on Wednesday, the government relieved Mladen Barisic as a Finance Ministry state secretary and as head of the Ministry's Customs Administration, the government said in a press release.
Vesna Kadic Komadina was appointed temporary head of the Customs Administration until a new one is appointed on the basis of public applications.
Barisic was also relieved of his duties as an assembly member of the Agency for Support to Information Systems and Information Technologies, and as a member of the government's commission for the suppression of the grey economy.
Barisic was arrested in Zagreb on Wednesday at 7am, after which police searched his home and his office at the Customs Administration.
The Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime suspects Barisic of conspiracy to commit crime, illegal brokerage, and incitement to abuse of office in the Fimi Media case, said his attorney Ante Madunic.
