The justice ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina has granted a request for questioning of Dragan Paravinja about the circumstances of the 1994 death of Serbian reporter Radislava Vujasinovic, the ministry's spokesman, Marina Bakic, told press in Sarajevo on Thursday.
"We received the request yesterday from Croatia's justice ministry and today the request for Paravinja's questioning was granted," Bakic said.
On 22 July Bosnia and Herzegovina temporarily extradited Paravinja to Croatia where he is suspected of the disappearance of the underage girl Antonia Bilic in June. Paravinja is placed in investigative custody in the Adriatic city of Sibenik.
In the meantime, the police decided to take some more measures after the media began speculating that Paravinja had some knowledge about the 1994 death of Vujasinovic, who wrote about links between Serbia politicians and underworld figures for the Duga newspaper. On 8 April 1994 the reporter was found dead in her flat. According to the findings of a preliminary investigation, she committed suicide but her family has never accepted those findings.
The consent from Bosnia about additional interrogation was necessary as Paravanja was handed over to Croatia only for the investigation in the Bilic case.
Recently, the Croatian and Serbian national police directors agreed on establishing a joint team of investigators to probe speculations about Paravinja's involvement in Vujasinovic's death.
