The Brazilian culture festival Brazilactica will start in Zagreb's central Ban Jelacic Square on Sunday evening with a performance by capoeira and samba players.
During the festival, to last until March 18, a dozen workshops will be held on several locations about the Afro-Brazilian martial art capoeira, the samba dance, Brazilian drums and Brazilian cuisine. The Museum of Ethnography will stage a small exhibition of photos, musical instruments and clothing items and present a brochure on the history of Brazil.
The festival ends on March 18 with what will be the biggest Brazilian carnival procession in Zagreb, to go from the Croatian National Theatre to the Cvjetni Trg square.
This year's Brazilactica is the second festival of Brazilian culture in Zagreb. The first festival was held in 2010 and it brought together more than 2,000 participants and visitors. The organiser of the festival is an association called The Amazon - Centre of Brazilian Culture in Croatia. Since 2004, the association has been promoting all aspects of Brazilian culture in Croatia.
