After businessman Vladimir Selebaj Sellier was arrested at a Croatian border crossing on Thursday, another five people were arrested in Zagreb on Friday reportedly in connection with financial wrongdoing in the "Core Media" production company.
The Interior Ministry's spokeswoman Aleksandra Ljuba confirmed the arrests of five more people, declining to reveal their identities.
The suspects are being questioning and later in the day it will be announced whether they will be remanded in custody. Prosecutors have not said under what charges the suspects were arrested.
According to media speculations, Selebaj Sellier, former husband of Croatian Television (HTV) anchorwoman Dijana Culjak, is suspected of fraud, tax evasion and money laundering through the Media Core company.
Selebaj Sellier's lawyer told media that his client was charged with abuse of office in connection with the Core Media company which has been under investigation for three years.
Show business manager Edvin Softic, a former business partner of the Selebaj couple, already made accusations against Dijana Culjak and Selebaj Sellier.
The three had reportedly run the company together in the past.
Media say that Culjak was in conflict of interest because Core Media used to sell TV shows and soap operas to the public television network HTV.
Culjak told press today that there was no reason for her ever to be arrested, dismissing all the claims against her. She declined to comment on the arrest of her ex-husband, who has both Croatian and French citizenship.
