Croatian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Radimir Cacic has said that the statement by Finance Minister Slavko Linic on the state's plan to enter the ownership structure of the Dioki petrochemical company has been misinterpreted, explaining that the government will do nothing prior to finding a strategic partner ready to invest between 10 and 15 million euros for restarting production in that company which used to be a leading Croatian exporter.
"Linic was misunderstood. He said Dioki had an export-orineted production and high technology, but we do not have a partner ready to invest 10-15 million euros necessary for launching the production," Cacic said after Wednesday's session of the government.
Cacic said that in the case of the ailing Dioki company, the government was the only creditor with no warranties ensured for its claims, while banks were covered by mortgages on the company's land in Zagreb and on the island of Krk. In this context he blamed former Prime Minister Sanader for this situation.
Cacic said that Dioki would probably go into official receivership but would not apply for liquidation.
