Six people, including the Credo Banka managing board chairman, Sime Luketin, and the bank's owners, Boris Barac and Mirko Vukovic, were arrested in the Adriatic city of Split on Saturday on suspicion that they abused office and committed murky dealings in the Credo bank which recently went into forced liquidation, one of defence lawyers told press today.
The arresstees are accused of having funneled funds from the bank, pushing that financial institution into the red.
The Croatian National Bank (HNB) which was provided with documents about the liquidation of that commercial bank, recently found a number of serious irregularities in the Credo performance which was why the case was transferred to the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor
As a result, the Split police searched the properties of the six suspects this morning and taken them to the police station. Later in the day, the suspects are to be brought before an investigating judge.
