Representatives of the Libyan diplomatic mission in Zagreb said at the Croatian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday there was no official information that there were any Croatians among the foreigners captured in Libya, and Croatia asked that information about the alleged arrest of some Croatian citizens in Libya be urgently checked.
A member of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) in charge of the judiciary, Mohammed Al-Alagi, said in Libya there were many foreigners among the people arrested there, including 17 Croats.
During today's talks in Zagreb, Croatia asked once again that information be checked about the alleged arrest of a certain number of Croats who allegedly fought in Muammar Gaddafi's military units, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
The Libyan representatives said they had no official information that any Croats were arrested and that they would check these allegations with NTC bodies very soon.
The Foreign Ministry recalled that all Croatian citizens who had requested assistance were evacuated from Libya in February and March. Since then, no Croatian citizen or their families have contacted the ministry requesting assistance or evacuation from Libya.
