Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and several government ministers will visit the United States in February to meet with US administration officials for talks on bilateral and other topics.
President Josipovic is to attend a ceremony in New York on 9 February marking the 15th anniversary of the Dayton peace accords, which ended the 1991-1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ceremony is being organised by former US President Bill Clinton and he has also invited former US State Secretary Madeleine Albright, retired General Wesley Clark, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, and US reporter Christiane Amanpour.
During his stay in the United States, the Croatian president is scheduled to hold a lecture in Boston.
Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic, who will make a visit to the US on 2-3 February, is expected to hold talks with US State Secretary Hillary Clinton and sign with her an Open Skies agreement providing for the introduction of direct flights between the two countries.
Jandrokovic will attend the 59th National Prayer Breakfast, traditionally held on first Thursday in February, in Washington.
Croatian Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic is due to meet US Defence Secretary Robert Gates in Washington this week for talks on bilateral cooperation and the NATO-led ISAF mission in Afghanistan in which Croatia's contingent is also employed.
Croatian Forestry and Regional Development Minister Bozidar Pankretic will attend the 9th United Nations' Forests Forum, scheduled for 2 February in New York. The World Organisation has declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests.
